Ludotheque
Ludotheque is derived from the Latin word "ludus" and means play, school and is the place of an organized collection of games that can be used. It is important that children are allowed to occupy themselves with good, high-quality toys. So far, however, we have lacked such an orderly collection of games. Our friends from Grupo Karim's have therefore set up a toy library for us. In doing so, they have fulfilled our long-held dream of giving the children a place to develop their cognitive learning skills.
Here they now have the opportunity to try out different toys: Children's games, party games, educational games, games of chance, outdoor games, costumes, movement games, wooden toys, legos, cars, electronic toys and in addition there is also a reading corner, with the aim of encouraging the reading habit, something that is not known in Honduras.
All our children feel like they are in paradise in the newly created Ludothek. The energy and mood is so good that they would love to spend all their time in there. The wall with the planets of our solar system, which has a blackboard surface for writing with chalk, fascinates everyone. And Luis even said that he had never been allowed to play on a carpet. That was only something for the "rich".
Thanks to this new space, we can pass on playing to our children as an important leisure activity and cultural asset.
Self-made birdhouses
Our friends from the ROOM organization invited two children from the children's home "Amor y Vida" to spend an afternoon with us and taught the children how to build wooden bird houses on their own.
In teams of two, the children went to work with great enthusiasm and had a lot of fun assembling, nailing, and finally painting their very own bird house. Since then, the birds in our neighborhood can find shelter in the bird houses. The children have placed their houses all over the trees in our compound.
Visit from the Carolina Cross Connection Team
Since the COVID-19 lock down in March 2020, we had not allowed any out-of-town visits, except family visits, as a security measure.
Now, 15 months later, we opened our home again for the first time to the CCC (Carolina Cross Connection) team from the USA. The children were very happy to finally have visitors again and to be able to interact with their American friends. They have placed all day very joyfully.
For all of us, this was like a sign that normality was finally returning, and the CCC organization team even invited our little ones to visit Chucky Cheese and to celebrate, all the children were invited to Pizza Hut for dinner.
The joy of the children was indescribable!!!
